Sage V3 doesn't want to go into standby

Hey guys,

I'm using v3.0.11 and my pc will not go into standby if Sage is running. If I exit Sage and let it sit for half an hour then it goes right into standby. If Sage is open the pc stays active. So my standby time is 30 minutes, so I set the status check time to 3600 (1 hour) figuring that that way the pc would go to sleep since Sage wasn't keeping itself active. I leave Sage running full screen all the time and don't want to let it 'sleep' to the sage screensaver. In 2.2.8 it went to sleep just fine.

Any ideas?

Do you mean you are having this problem after making that change in SageTV (at Detailed Setup -> Customize -> PM Settings)? That value tells SageTV how often to check its own status & then release the system to allow it to go into standby if SageTV isn't doing anything. So, if you tell SageTV not to check itself for an hour, it won't let the system know it isn't busy for at least an hour... preventing standby for at least that long.

Well...originally it was set to 30 seconds and that wouldn't let it go into standby so I tried '0' which didnt' seem to be a valid value so I figured I'd try a really long number. If seems that if Sage is open and full screen it is 'active' even if you haven't pressed a button in a long time.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think SageTV would have to enter its own screen saver mode before PM could kick in... but it has been a while since I played around with that. When it is full screen, does SageTV ever starts its own screen saver?

SageTV does kick on it's screen saver, but currently I have turned that off. I think I had similar behavior then also.

I would try it with the screen saver enabled, or with SageTV sleeping in they system tray. If PM doesn't kick in when there is no media playing, it is sleeping, and nothing is recording, then I would submit a report on it -- and save your logs from when this happens... or doesn't happen, as the case may be.

Ok...I'll run some tests and jot it all down. What would you recommend as a PM timer setting if I want roughly half hour to 45 minute sleep setting? Should I set it back to 30 seconds? And just leave my standby at 30 minutes?

Just put the SageTV setting back to something like the original 30 seconds -- that only tells SageTV how often to check its own status & re-enable Windows PM if it doesn't need to do anything. How long it takes for your system to actually go into standby is still based on the Windows setting.
