Thank you SageTV! I am finally very happy with SageTV 3.00.11

As some of you may know, I been known to complain a lot about various bugs in the early betas of SageTV 3. I am no longer getting blue screens, machine instability, and sluggishness due to memory leaks and other bugs; even after many, many hours of regression testing so far.

I can say that ever since I installed a clean copy of SageTV 3.00.11 and reinstalled XP Service Pack 2, SageTV is actually starting to have a similar feel to the trademark dependability of SageTV 2.2.8.

There's only one problem left for me, but I'm guessing it might be a weird quark on my OS/drivers/registry that probably could only be fixed with a clean OS install.... (I still have the problem with SageTV .ts recordings not being playable in other external directshow media players). The weird thing is that this bug was aknowledged and supposedly fixed with this release.

...and here's my nod of approval...

I too want to thank SageTV for fixing the jittery video after ff/rw problem with WinXP SP2 and VMR9. Keep up the good work!

mkanet,

How about your HDTV low-pitch audio problem? Has that gone away? And is Sage doing any sort of volume normalizing between SD and HD feeds?

Thanks,
Chris

Awww... Chris, you remembered Low pitch audio issue was caused by corrupted Nvidia mpeg2 decoders (from my PC crashing so much from early beta releases of SageTV 3. I was actually able to fix this a while back even before this release with a clean install of the Nvidia decoders. Unfortunately, I don't know what component of my OS/drivers/registry was corrupted to cause .ts files produced by SageTV to not have include PAT's and PMT information in the .ts files saved. This information is needed by standalone directshow players to playback .ts files correctly. SageTV doesn't mind if this information is missing.

As far as the unlike volume levels between HD/SD, so many issues were fixed with this release that this issue seems relatively minor and tollerable.

Thanks for asking Chris!

So far, whatever I've thrown everything I can at Sagtv and cant break it. Picture viewer (no more postage stamp sized pics), music jukebox, DVD, and lots and lots of HD movies....

Great job SageTV!!
