java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsExeption: String index out of range: 122830
When I start my HTPC up and sage starts to load it gives me the java error of "java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsExeption: String index out of range: 122830"
I have tryed to uninstalling java and reinstall it, I have tried uninstalling both java and sage and still nothing. I am running an AMD 2.1 ghz 32bit, 1 gig ram. I have Sage 2.2 running with SageMCE skin and worked the day before fine. Thanks ahead of time Zach |

Java can be set to auto-update, and relatively recently a new update did come out (1.5 update 04) sometimes referred to as java 5.0 update 4 (I think). Anyways, if you want a quick fix, check your installed programs and see if that update is there and has an install date of when your problems started, if so, remove it.
Don't forget to make a backup and maybe a system restore before you mess with anything though, since sometimes touching things can mke them worse than you expected. Cory |

I guess I should have put this more clearly -- usually when troubleshooting, you want to try and find out what changed. You didn't specify whether you found some evidence to suggest your java had changed or whether you just jumped in on my guess. If you have not taken a backup, do so *right now* at the very least of your wiz.bin and *.properties files just in case.
Your best bet is to contact support, but if you feel like going further I'm guessing that we're looking at a clean un-and-reinstall unless we can gather some symptoms that point us more clearly to one area or another. You dont have an ungodly amount of files, music, or favorites or something do you? Music files might be the only thing I could think of that there could be so many of that you would increment out, but maybe that doesnt make sense based on when you see the crashes happen. Any new errors being logged in your event logs that coincide (nearly) with your crashes beginning? Good luck and come back and tell us how you make out! Cory |

I had horrible problems with the latest version of java and sage 2.2.8... I went back to a clean machine and installed the java that came with sage. No problems after that. Basically. Don't fix what ain't broke. If it works, leave it be.
