ATI x700 verses 9800 XT (both 256MB Ram)

Can someone offer some advise on which card is better. I realize the 9800 is 2 years older, and the XT700 offers several speed and technology advancements. But the 9800 is a 256bit card, and the XT700 is a 128bit card (But GDDR3). So, how do they compare to each other. What are the real points to compare them against?

(and yes I do occasionally play some games...)
