MediaMVP SVideo-RCA?

I was wondering if anybody has been able to convert the svideo output from the MediaMVP to RCA? I have tried it with 2 different Svideo to RCA converters and the picture that ends up on my TV is always Black and White!! My TV's don't have a free Svideo input, so I was trying to adapt the Svideo to RCA...

Thanks!

Umm, looking at my MVP, I see an RCA composite jack right next to the Svideo jack.

Sure.. But I was going to try and use the SVideo out and convert to Composite.. my understanding that this still produces a better image than if I went strictly RCA..

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

In fact you will almost definitely get a noticeably WORSE picture. I've tried many SVideo -> composite convertors, and every one I have ever seen gives a worse
picture than composite out of the component alone would.

Any time you convert the signal after the output it degrades signal. Trust that the MVP is doing the best it can with composite out at the chip level...

Okay, thanks Jason.. My thought was if you take a superior image, then degrade it by conversion, you may still end up with an image that is better than the RCA image...

I'll leave it as it is, until I get a better TV!

Don't get me wrong, it was a good thought. I think the issue is that the passive (aka non-powered) converters are just so cheap, and lossy, that you end up with a worse signal.

At least that is what I've found. Now maybe there is a super good SVideo to Composite convertor somewhere that is better. Don't know.
