Sage Plugin to expand USB-UIRT to other things

With the recent support of USB-UIRT within SageTV to change cable box channels, I thought it might be an intersting place to expand the USB-UIRT functionality. While Girder could handle my idea, I'd like to keep my system Sage-centric. My PVR's audio control is currently routed through my Yamaha receiver for the home theater. The only thing I use the Yamaha remote for is to change the Yamaha's volume and I never use the Sage Volume control. My Hauppauge 45 button remote is most entirely used otherwise. Would building a plugin to capture the remotes volume command to Sage and export learned codes to the Yamaha's be a feasable plugin - or more touble than its worth. Might be interesting to compound the remotes power button to batch other items as well, like my projector and Yamaha's power in tandem and hence unifying the whole system.

Still thinking of ideas and intersted in other people's thoughts.

I had a similar kind of problem. (I use the TV for volume rather than sagetv I also needed to change a scart switch between TV and sage so had to use 3 remotes all the time)
I thought of Girder as well, but didnt feel like buying it just to see if it would work.

I ended up using a programmable remote I happened to have (an early Chameleon) and setting the volume buttons for the TV and the rest for Sage or TV depending on the device.

The remote was a bit useless though and ate a set of batteries every fortnight so I finally switched to a Logitech Harmony 688. Very nice. Expensive but very easy to use although the online configuration tool is a bit of a pain.

Ive got one button for switching to Sage that switches the TV channel, changes the scart switch and wakes sage up. A TV button does the opposite for TV watching.

Same setup here too. I've been wondering how to accomplish that same task of using my FireFly remote through Sage to make the UIRT control the volume of the Yamaha.

I like the plugin idea. Definitely beyond the scope of my abilities though.
