If so - which is not impossible - he just got himself fired, most certainly if I was his manager, because he got TiVo a lot of bad publicity. They are in bed with the big boys (Comcast) already - there is no need to suck up to anybody - but they are about the lose a big segment of their customer base.
TiVo has a history of 'leaking' controversial new features to a small amount of subscribers. Do they think this actually works? Testing the waters like that? I don't think so.
What about their test community?
