I'm having the same problem. How exactly did you fix it?

I have a dedicated PC for the server - it's never used to watch anything (except in testing). SageTV is never running (except in testing/setup) - only SageTV Server.

I run the client on another PC.

It continues to record everything on the last channel viewed, even after I've quit the program (whether it be SageTV on the server or SageTV Client on the client). I don't Sleep before quitting the program - perhaps this will work, but I shouldn't have to do that. And in practice that won't happen with other members of the family unless I can figure out how to set it up to do it automatically. And I'm not sure I want to do that since I like to be able to rewind the current show past the point where I turned the TV on, on those rare occasions where it happens to already be on a channel worth watching.

The issue is that it doesn't delete the recordings (at least not until the disk is full, I assume - haven't gotten there yet). Shouldn't it be deleting those recordings within a half hour or so? IMO it shouldn't keep anything beyond the previous show.

These recordings show up in the recorded programs list, unless I filter to show only Manual & Favorites.

Delete Live TV files when not using Intelligent Recording is on.

Intelligent Recording is off.

My recording folders are local - there can't be any sharing permission problems.

Video setting is 'when active'.

I've rebooted several times. I just updated to v3 - I had the same problem in v2.

Have you looked at your Sage Properties file for the MMC/encoders/XXX/never_stop_recording ?

Maybe one, or more if you have them, of your encoders are set to always record?

That's in the Sage manual in Appendix A under "Configurable properties for Sage Tv Version 2.0 and later"

I am a new sage user with the same problem as this thread. Version 2.2. Seems to always record. I have turned off preview and checked the properties file per above. Neither fixed the problem. WIll continue to explore and hope for more ideas.

Do you watch any live tv with it? If so how are you getting out of live tv?

I never watch live tv, but if I recall it will still keep recording unless you explicitly tell it to stop recording either by using STOP, Close File, or put Sage to sleep.

That wouldn't explain why they aren't getting deleted, but might explain why it's always recording.

I checked the properties - never_stop_recording isn't there.

But... It seems to have inexplicably fixed itself, at least for now.

Hurray!..?
