Remote stops working when using left arrow

I have the standard remote that came with the Hauppauge PVR250 about a year ago. Lately it's developed a strange problem. I can navigate the menus just fine until I use the right arrow to move back then it locks up and stops working. If I use the mouse to make a change like deleting or watching a show the remote will work perfectly again.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe it started after Java did an update. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've tried reinstalling sage, reinstalling the remote, and even replaced the batteries thinking the signal might be weak.
