Reruns Marked As First Run

I'm using the new Canadian listings with Sage 3.0.7 and reruns are commonly marked first run. I have the blue dot enabled and it's very common to see things in the guide in italics (watched) and yet there is a blue dot beside it.

As I understand it the Digicasa plugin for Canadian listings had an aggrssive setting to insure improper tagging of rereun as first runs would not happen.

Is this something that Sage will be implimenting in it's handling of this info? Because if Sage can't tell reruns from first runs, it's going to make a lot of mistakes when it comes to reliability of my recorded favorites.

When were those shows originally aired? It is common for shows aired over the course of a week or so to be marked as First Run in the EPG data that SageTV receives. These shows really are First Runs -- they are just aired multiple times during their first run period.

If the show was originally aired months/weeks ago, then the provider isn't correctly tagging the show & you should probably ask SageTV to complain to the provider.

Well, as an example, this evenings Tonight Show is marked first run, and the original airing date is Aug 12...

Another issue that bugs me about the EPG is that when new channels are added to any of my lineups Sage automatically marks them as active. If a new channels is added it should be marked inactive. It seems that every so often I have to go through and disable a few channels that have sprung up.

That's a matter of personal preferrence. I rarely go through to check for new channels that have been added. So for me it's much simplier if it's added automatically. It's easy enough to remove the channel later, which IMO is better than having channels available that I'm unaware of.

Your situation seems possibly a little different than mine. In my case, sage will start recording my favorites on a "new" channel, when in fact those channels are not ones I pay for, therefore I get huge recordings of "Please call us to subscribe to this channel" or similar. May cable company is not usually in the habit of adding channels that are no extra charge.

Perhaps it should be an option...

When my cable company adds new channels the only ones that are added in Sage are the ones that are added to my current package. Maybe because they don't broadcast a message telling me to subscribe if I want to view the new channel. Instead I get nothing on the channel and Sage can't tune it so it doesn't think it's a new channel that needs to be added.
