How much hardware muscles do I need for my pvr-250/A180 system

Hi gang.
I only want to take my HTPC out of my HT cabinet and open her up one more time and be don't with it for a few months. I want to buy what I need, install it and be done.

I have a middle of the road, "hardware wise" HTPC. And I'm not sure I have the power to roll with a 2 pvr-250 and a "still in the fed-ex box A180- HDTV card" for my working like a gem HTPC system.

Hardware wise, what do I need to have a smooth running box. 'Please remember I'm trying to keep the hardware cost reasonable.' My wife is in no mood to see more fed-Ex boxes coming from Newegg.com. But I can put up with not getting "any" to have a nice working SD/HD HTPC for the new TV season coming up

1)How much CPU power?........... I prefer AMD
2) What Vid-card ? I prefer ATI..............But flexible on this
3) How much ram ?

My middle of the road system that works great for SDTV and DVD viewing
AMD XP 2600+
ATI 9800-Pro
1024MB Ram
2 250-PVR cards
Tons of harddrive space

Thank you
Fluff

Got around to installing my Avermedia A180 card. My AMD XP 2600+
seems to be a bit to under powered for my needs. HD video live and playback is watchable but just a bit Stuttering/jerky. D@mn I was hopeing to get away with the 2600+. Thinking a AMD XP or 64 3400 may be more in line with my system needs
