USB-UIRT stopped working... HELP!!

My stuff has been working great for the past month and now all of a sudden I discovered that my usb-uirt wont change channels. The tuners will change when I select a channel but the commands wont go through the usb-uirt. I have tried it through the live tv guide and by changing channels while watching livetv. Im using version 3.0.7. The last change I made was installing MVPClient because I just purchased an MVP two days ago. Anyone have any ideas??? Please help, I would hate to have to reinstall everything

You might try switching USB ports.

You may have to reteach the cable box commands in the source setup. Maybe the IR file got hosed.

When you installed 3.0x did it install to Program Files\SageTV instead of Frey Technologies? If so make sure you copy over your IR files from the old folder. I'm sure the manual explains how to go about reteaching/adding another box profile if you need to.

I didn't lose all IR control but most of it. Try a powered hub. If that doesn't work you can check functionality via IRHelper from the USB-UIRT website. (They are very helpful)

Email tech support, he will have it to you in a few hours. Otherwise there may be a copy floating around in the forums.

You might check your firewall settings, and delete any references to the programs involved with your USB-UIRT so it can relearn them.

Update on USB-UIRTcrashing

Ok here's the latest development...
I decided to start again from scratch with just a 3.0.7 setup and couple of addons (comskip variant, webserver and MVPClient). I rebuilt the box on Monday... Everything was working fine on Monday night and I left everything up and running... When I got home from work on Tuesday I found that my server had rebooted due to a windows update that restarted the PC...
Once again the usb-uirt is hosed and not sending any commands at all....
I rebooted and its still not functioning...

Anyone have any ideas from this point?

Contact Jon the maker of the USB-UIRT. He is very good at remedying issues like this.

Shut automatic updates OFF. The last thing you want is an update happening right in the middle of a recording. You never know when an update is going to pop up.

While it's possible that the solution is to turn off some or all of the features of the OS that are meant to keep up the defenses of the system, I don't think that's the way to go when trying to isolate problems.

Plenty of people have good PVR systems running despite the evils of patches to the OS or the subsystems.

I'd lean toward asking for support in the forum that's meant for USB-UIRT support (i.e. http://usbuirt.com/support.htm ) before turning off security.

I wasn't suggesting turning off security, just some due diligence on the users part. Once every couple days while the machine isn't recording anything just hit the Windows update site and get any patches. That's what I've been doing since a large # of the windows updates require a reboot.

You can't blame the software if it's only doing what you told it to. I.E. you told it to get the updates and now you're mad because it broke somel of your programs. I've been around Windows long enough (too long really) to know that a very frequent side effect of a Windows update is to "break" some software. At least long enough not to trust Windows to update without me sitting right there to "fix" it afterwards.

I finally figured out it with some help from USB-UIRT support....
When I installed sageclient on the same box in order to use the MediaMVP, the sage server began to use the irremote files from the newly installed client even though I installed it in its own seperate folder. There were no codes in there... so I copied the ir codes to that the client remote codes folder and now everything as far as remote signals is back to normal....

Thanks to everyone for all of your help
