Hi,
I am moving and need to choose which way to go, cable or Direct tv. I am planning to add HDTV recording to my sage set up. I have one OTA card, want to get firewire HDTV set up. My preference is a non usb uirt channel changing set up since my one attempt at that failed miserably... I use serial now. My new home has adelphia local cable using (I am told) scientific Atlanta boxes. What I am throwing out to you is, what in your opinion is the best option for service? And for hardware? Is there a way to record HDTV via directtv? What are the compatibility issues with the tuners? Any info is greatly apppreciated.

I don't believe Sat STB's have Firewire connections except for some moded and private buys.
If firewire is your plan, I think cable is about the only economic choice. Mileage varies as far as encryption is concerned from provider to provider and by specific location as well (same provider company may not be consistent in encryption philosophy in different locations) DFA
