Creating 2300 thumbnail pictures... gets stuck at around 1200

Any ideas why creating thumbnails gets stuck at around 1200? This happens every time.

Does it say what file it is? Perhaps there is something about that image that it can't handle.

If it doesn't say what the file is... do you have blank pictures shown in the Picture Library? Do those pictures exist on the hard drive?

Andy, this might give a clue to what's wrong:

When I have click on to have the thumbnails created, the display gets stuck on the 1/2334 file (even though there is some disk activity). Then, 8 minutes later, it says 1234/2334 and it stays there indefinately. Isn't it supposed to display the files its creating thumbnails for in realtime?

Since it gets stuck in this mode indefinately, I have no choice but to hit stop. when i go to view the thumbnails, most of the pictures are there, but there are also a lot of them which dont have thumbnails until i highlight the the blank thumbnail. So, if I move the arrow over to blank thumbnails, I guess the they get updated.

All my pictures exist on the hard drive and are valid .jpg .bmp pictures.

Also, I still haven't figured out a way to make my tiny pictures fill the entire screen. A lof of my pictures in full screen view look like little postage stamp pictures.

Any ideas?

FWIW I've noticed some pic files 'show up weird' as a folder with thumbnails. But otherwise I have ~3200 pix in my directory heirarchy and they get read in fine w/3.0.5. All are under the same sub on the same server as Sage.

Don't bother with a bug report on this one... I figured it out. This is due to a bug that was already fixed for the next beta. If you check your "GeneratedThumbnails" subdirectory, you should see that the thumbnails are actually getting created; it is just that the pop-up menu showing the progress isn't getting updated. Check it out again when the next version is released.

Currently, there is no way to make small images fill the screen in the picture library. Maybe there could be an added option to do that, but no guarantees.

Does v3 have any facility to stretch images for non-square-pixel displays? Mine is 4x3 aspect ratio at 1776x1000i.

I don't know about that. Unless someone else already knows about it, I think you may have to contact beta headquaters.

Sorry, I know I should check for myself, and I shouldn't have polluted this thread... my test/development machine is kaput right now and I just tried out the picture library in my prod environment the other day for the first time, and found that everyone in the pictures became elongated when viewed in the entertainment room.
