serial control for cable box?
I think I've read every post in this forum and I'm confused about this: Can SageTV change channels on a cable box through a serial cable? I don't mean with the IR blaster, but a direct serial connection to my cable box. It seems that it can control a Direct TV receiver, so why would a cable box be any different? I have a Motorola DCT 2244. I've gotten the Actisys IR blaster to work, but it changes channels really slow. My friend's TIVO changes channels much faster with the direct cable vs. IR blaster, so I'm hoping the same would apply to Sage. Thanks.

We currently don't support serial control of a Cable box. It's something we would like to do but don't currently have the appropriate commands for control.

farmboy03, does your friend's Tivo change channels on a Motorola DCT2xxx cable box via serial cable? If so, somebody should be able to reverse engineer the commands, which would be pretty darned exciting for Motorola DCT2xxx owners everywhere, I think.

Can you reverse engineer from MythTV? They have serial port control working. Serial Port control is the only thing that's keeping me from buying SageTV right now.
