Anyone use crossover cable with MediaMVP client?

I have looked through the threads, but do not see a how-to to connect the MediaMVP client with a crossover cable. My setup has the server and SageTV client on the same machine. I have read in prior threads that it was not possible w/ the SageTV mediaMVP client, but that was earlier this year. Is there a way to do this now? Do i need the Hauppauge software? Thanks

A crossover cable is a Layer-1 physical interconnect issue. As long as you can satisfy the requirements of the MVP then it shouldn't matter (e.g. it may want a DCHP address to be served to it.) But I don't have an MVP. Perhaps you're really asking something else other than regarding a cross-over cable.

Thanks for the reply. I am sure i am looking to use a crossover cable. I want to connect the MVP directly to the PC without go over the network or router. I am able to use the MVP over a network, but moving to the main TV/server due to a better PQ.

I'd recommend staying with a regular cable and just pluggin the MVP into your existing network.

If you try to hook up the MVP directly, you either need a second NIC or else will need to unplug the computer from the network so you can plug the MVP into the existing NIC. IN either of those cases, you'd need a crossover cable.
