Load Sage as the Windows Shell

Is it possible, and are there any benefits, to have Sage load as the windows shell on boot. I'm using WinXP and Sage is in Service mode (Does explorer.exe start services in WinXP??)

Cheers

Eric

I think the best you can hope for is to setup SageTV to auto-start at system boot full screened.

I've tried this with the client. SageTV will run but the programs explorer starts at login (like your remote) wont start anymore and SageTV has no way of starting these programs.

Services are always started (before logon even) whatever shell you use.

you can always create a few services for the application you want to start up.

service+ is perfect for most any application. Microsort also has a service utility in their resource kit (srvany i believe). I have never found anything I could not launch as a service.

I.

To make the remote program run, you could try setting it up as a service using instsrv.exe and srvany.exe. You can set certain programs up to run as services as long as:

The computer operating system must be Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.

The service must run without a user interface.

The service must have the ability to communicate with another application for configuration or control. The other application can reside on the same computer as the service or on a network with the computer hosting the service.

I think a remote control program would meet these requirements (after it is first set up).

Something new to try
