The WinTV 2000 application has capture functionality. I've used it a few times to capture images from recorded programs from SageTV.

Making "Snapshots" From a Recordings?
Just wondering if anyone used a screen capturing program of some sort, or know if there's a way to create a "photo" of a recording made by SageTV...
Reason I ask is because some of the less "computer literate" members of the family wants to paint a scene from a TV program, but doesn't know how to operate SageTV itself. (They also had trouble with the VCR, soooo.... ) Was going to use a generic screen capture program, but that doesn't work, apparently. (Something about overlays not seen by capture programs...) |

For screen capture to work, you need to set it up so its not using the overlay surface. This can be done by using the Elecard decoder without DScale and selecting Default for your Video Renderer.
The video won't look at smooth without the overlay, but screen captures will work.
