client won't stay connected

The client connects just fine, but when the GUI comes up, it says "The connection to the SageTV Server has been lost. Attempting to restore the connection..." It never reconnects. I have trned all firewalls off between the computers. I'm using the 15 day trial for both machines, if that matters.

Check out this FAQ to see if any of those suggestions fix it.

I have no firewalls in place between the two computers. The version of the client AND server is 2.2.8. The server option is enabled. Can the fact that both the server and client are on the 15 day trial affect anything?

The trial shouldn't be the issue. That FAQ is all I know about it, so if no one else has a suggestion, you could always try tech support.

Connect is lost for me as well using 2.2.8

I too get the connect lost by the server error. I am using 2.2.8 on both the client and server. I don't have a router or firewall in the way. Anyone else having this issue? Any hints other than the FAQ's???

Thanks,

Mansona

Try this...experiment with the timestamps

I've had similar problems, and other totally bizzare situations because of the time being different on the server machine vs. the client machine. What the first poster described is what would happen to my setup at first. Now if things are out of sync somehow, I usually get the user interfact on the client, and attempt to tune to live tv, but I just get a blank screen, and no channel changes (DirecTV serial port).

For a while, I was successfully using a time-retrieval service in windows (ArGoSoft Time Synchronizer), and *avoiding* the "syncronize time with server" (or whatever that setting is in Sage). Unfortunately, that stopped working the other day, and I had to experiment a bit to get things back on track. I think one of the time servers I was using on one machine fell silent, but I don't know.

Anyway, I've not noticed any comments about time syncronization causing trouble, but it certainly has for me, and might be worth experimenting with.

Good luck,
Tim
