No Audio
I've got a WinTV PVR 250 installed along with SageTV. I successfully get audio in WinTV, but not SageTV. I've tried all of the various settings in Detailed Setup Audio, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks |

You might want to try a new audio codec. Try AC3 Filter.

This problem is more common with PVR150's but....
1) Check to see if your audio in winTV is stereo or mono (IIRC it can be found under audio properties for the channel). I have found that SageTV won't have sound if a channel is mono. Low signal levels can sometimes contribute to the mono audio. 2) make certain you have the newest drivers from Hauppage. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded all of the updates from Hauppauge, but my audio is coming out in Mono. I've indicated in the Preferences that I would prefer Stereo, but it comes out in Mono. Which audio/mixer input should I select?
I don't know what an AC3 filter is. Where would I find it and would it help with getting the audio to stereo? If it helps, I using a Dish 301 going into the WinTV card. |

P.S.
Using USB-UIRT to change the channels in SageTv. |

Ok, all afternoon, and I finally got audio on SageTV. I've got a really stupid question though (I guess you figured I'm a real newbee to all of this).
First, I guess I am confused about what cables I need to take from the Satellite box to the WinTV card. The way I've got it currently, I have a coax cable going between the two, an S video cable between the two, and now I have a red, white, and yellow cable coming from the satellite box to the Line In on the WinTV card. I've only connected the white and red cables, leaving the yellow one unplugged. When I had the yellow one plugged in I kept getting a lot of LOUD noise coming out of one of the speakers. Do I need all of these cables between the two? On SageTV should I now be running Composite vs. S Video? Which should I select? Thanks everyone for the help. |

Given your situation, I'd say to leave the S-video hooked up. Then run the red/white from the satellite output to the PVR-250 input. Disconnect the coax all-together.
Then, you'll have to go in and reconfigure your capture device in the SageTV setup screens to reflect the new configuration. Should get you up and running. |

If I disconnect the Coax cable from the satellite to the WinTV card, then during the autoscan WinTV can't configure Channel 3.

But why would you need channel 3? The output from your satellite would go on the S-video and red/white audio lines.
