Clean Install/Wiz.bin

Is there a way to do a clean install of Sage 3.0.5 Beta and import your old 2.2.8 Wiz.bin and Sage.properties files? I tried installing the beta, then copying over the Wiz.bin and Sage.properties files manually but that didn't work...Maybe I did it wrong...

You should be able to install right over top. Make sure you had SageTV, and the service (if you're using it) closed/stopped before copying your files back.

OK, so install 3.0.5 then copy the wiz.bin and sage.properties from my 2.2.8 backup before launching SAGE which automatically launches the config right?

Should work. Although 3.0 will take you through the initial setup wizard the first time, regardless of if your properties file is there or not.

Yeah, that's what happened. I just verified all of the settings, and it recognized my video and import directories, so I know it read the properties file, however it did not read the wiz.bin since all of my videos showed up as imports. I will try copying it over again...

I have been having similar issues when moving to a netorked drive and finally to a new computer. Try installing reinstalling the 2.2.8 clean version first---making sure your recordings are there, then update to 3.0X. Good luck---i ended up scrapping it and starting clean

If you installed V3 to the new SageTV directory instead of the old Frey Technologies, then your old sage.properites file will still reference files in the Frey Technologies directory. So, SageTV will start a new wiz.bin file in the Frey Technologies directory intead of the SageTV directory. You can either replace the wiz.bin file in the Frey Technologies directory or exit SageTV and edit you sage.properites file to use the new directory by changing "Frey Technologies\\" to "SageTV\\".
