PVR-350 TV-Out limitations?

Hi,

I would really like to know just what limitations there are when using the PVR-350 for connecting to the TV. I understand that SageTV is able to show a UI on top of the video, but what about playing DVD and watching MPEG-4 files. Is it possible or not?

I understand that the RealMagic XCard have similar problems, but do there exist other ways to output to my PAL TV's RGB SCART compatible with SageTV, because i really dont want to use S-Video.

No, you can't play your DVDs through the TV out on the 350.

Another huge, disasterous limitation of the 350 (why I finally ditched it entirely) is the infamous "end of file" bug that's been around for well over a year. If you let Sage play the file to the very end through the 350, sometimes (in my case often) it pegs the CPU for a while and causes your system to become unresponsive - some folks get this worse than others but anyone using Sage with the 350 will run into this at some time or another.

It's frustrating that such a nice, elegant solution is thrwarted but such an obvious bug that one would think both companies would be motivated to do something about. Neither has made any statement on it other than to assure us it's being worked on. right. See me hold my breath.

BTW: if it were something as simple as stopping the video before the end of the file was reached, it would have been done already (and may still be part of the core). It isn't the solution many people seem to think it is; there is more to the 350's driver problems than that. This has been brought up on the forum before and it was noted that this 'solution' isn't a cure.
