Update:

I'm waiting on testing of a new feature, and I hope to release the new version next week after some tweaking this weekend.

Hold tight folks.

All users should download this file, and unzip it preserving folder structure to your "%SageTV%/" directory.

I haven't had time to do a full test, so please let me know if anything broke since the last version.
Enjoy!

Version 0.4.5 Release Notes:

Features:
Added Nielm's Info Popup

UI Changes:
Added setup for Data Import (Adcanced->External->Choose Collection.xml file)
Removed "Smart Folders" legend button to remove confusion. (it never did anything…)
Added icons to recording menu, option in "settings->advanced->enhancements->icons" - requested by multiple users (Thanks for the icons Iain!)
Manual/Favorite/Don't Like indication in media player
All menus should show current menu title in title bar
System asks if you want to import metadata for newly imported files automatically (uses DVD Profiler data import)

Bug Fixes:
Programs to Record - keyboard now has highlights for focus
Library Import - deleting directory now readable
Now warns before changing channel while watching live tv
Now catches channel change requests before canceling favorites recordings
Setup menu now shows if options exist out of view
Favorite Options now are fully functional and readable
Data Import now asks for .xml file if none set.
A couple of other things I forgot about…

Question

I'm looking for feedback on what users want to see in this STV. I have a few things I know I want to add for the next version, and I have a list of minor requests from you all, but I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing from the other STVs that people want.

Here's some of the big features I'm working on: What do people want?

1. Animations
2. Dynamic (configurable) Main Menu
3. Built-In commercial detection (which method? dirmon, normal, other?)
4. Show Blacklist (never record that show again)
5. Multi-function Stop
6. Better disk status widget
7. Better Imported Video Section
8. New Recording History Menu (like malore's)
9. Manual/Automatic Recompression of videos to other formats (manual=easy, automatic=hard)
10. Themes (other color schemes for UI)

So please chime in and let me know what you guys want. Also, anyone find any bugs in 0.4.5? I recently discovered the conflict resolution dialogue box is messed up, but are there any others? Thanks!

Edit: Please don't answer 'give us all of them'. That doesn't help me prioritize.

I get some sort of strange error when trying to playback recordings with this stv. It tells me to get the newest directx...which I already have. And if I use the 5 item menu, watch tv (or whatever that is) shows up twice when it is at the top or bottom of the menu while scrolling the menu up or down.

Looks good though, if I could get past that error I think I'll switch to it. Oh, and any chance of adding a disk space indicator?

That is very strange. Does it happen during both previously recorded stuff, and live tv? Have you switched back to the standard STV to see if it still happenes? Is it a windows popup or SageTV? You could also try switching to overlay instead of VMR to troubleshoot.

Sorry for the barrage of questions - I just haven't seen that error before.

As for the 5 menu options - it's a bug, and I think I know how to fix it. Might release a 0.4.6 version with a few new things this weekend - that's near the top of the list.

I'm not sure about live TV I don't remember, I'll have to check that later.

I think it is a sageTV popup, it doesn't look like a windows popup. I'll get a screenshot if I can.

I was actually using Overlay when I got that error. I switched to VMR9 after seeing that and still it happened. This does not happen in the standard STV or any others that I have tried, such as Cayars18E.

I am using the latest Sage beta. .13 RC2 I think it is.

I am finally getting some time to work on my HTPC this week. I will finally switch over to this STV (and update my buggy early v3 beta). In terms of features I was wondering if J river integration was on the horizon (I know you use j river as well, Crashless )?

J.River integration would be awesome. There has been some research on it in the past, but it's a fairly large project that involves knowledge beyond my own. The general concensus is that it's do-able, but difficult. Once I build out some more features, I definitly want to revisit this though - it would be a really powerful integration of the best PVR solution with the best music solution IMO.

Let me know what you think of the new version. I'm most likely going to release v0.4.6 this weekend (the wife's out of town so I have time). I have a couple of bug fixes, and a new feature that provides no functionality, but is a cool thing none the less. If people like it, I'll do more of it.

So I went to test Live TV today....and you guessed it. Everything worked just fine in Meekel. It appears to be some sort of SageTV error with my setup. For when I switched back from Meekel to Cayars18E I got the playback error again. So, the error is not your problem.

I look forward to your cool "functionless" feature...whatever that may be??????

Short list, but BIG implications. Now that people can configure the main menu, I'm not scared to add new features and clutter the simplicity.

Version 0.4.6 Release Notes:

Features:
Configurable Main Menu Items ("Advanced->Configure Menu")

UI Changes:
Main Menu Animates (turn off in "Advanced->STV Enhancements", won't be activated if "MVP Enhance" is Enabled)

Bug Fixes:
5-Item Menu bug squashed
Channel Icons and Status Icons in media player display correctly
Intelligent Indicator appears properly in Recordings Menu

Users upgrading from 0.4.5 can download the STV file only, and unzip it to your "%SageTV%/STVs" directory. Everyone else should go download this file, and unzip it preserving folder structure to your "%SageTV%/" directory.

Is there an upcoming movie list? I liked that feature in another stv. Also maybe with the option to not include movies that already started.

While it's not currently a discrete option, you CAN seach by genre, and select movies. This will display all currently playing movies, and upcoming ones as well.

You can also create custom guide lists that are filtered by channel and other parameters.

I am planning on implenting some form of Malore's custom guides now that the menus are configurable. I felt that if I had put them in first, things would get too cluttered.

I hadn't noticed movie hidden away in genres. However, selecting movie doesn't do anything. Selecting other items does move to another listing screen. Maybe the list is really long and is taking time...

Oh and what does mvp enhancement actually mean? I have an mvp and am curious.

Thanks

edit: I select movies but can immediately navigate away to another genre. It doesn't appear to be working on anything.

Yeah, mine takes about 10-15 seconds to list all of them. If you have any movie channels at all (HBO etc.) you can imagine how many items come up over a 14 day period.

Do you think I should bring that functionality out more? To be honest, I hadn't used it much b/c it's so deep in there...

I can tell you to score points on the WAF scale you need a clean way to see upcoming movies. Even I like movies over most other stuff.

Meekell had started work on a Recommendations menu that used a little of IMDB stuff...I'll take a look at it and see how much work it would take to make usable.
