No worries. The STV can read the files created by comskip, but it won't run it on it's own. You need to setup comskip or show analyzer with dirmon in order to create and process your shows, then they will automatically be detected with the STV. You will be able to use the Right/Left keys to go to the next/previous comskip points.

I'm so glad you like it! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Show Analyzer is probably your best bet. Check this thread out: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...ghlight=dirmon

Ok thanks for the info. I went to the site you said on your post and got it working. One question about the com skip setup. Can your STV use the edl type files or only the txt files? I tryed text and it worked with your STV, but edl doesnt seem to work?

Second question is can you point me in the direction of what I need to do to get the DVD burning setup working? I am guessing you need additional software to support that feature also? I activated it in the menu's, but I could not get it to burn.

Thanks again for the help!!

John

I haven't had the opportunity to update the comskip stuff to use the edl files yet, so for now it's only txt files. Sorry. That feature is on the todo list.

Setup the DVD burning with the default stv first by following the instructions in this thread:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21418

Then, go to my STV, turn on the Programs Menu, and it should work. It has been tested by evilpenguin (the author of that plugin) so things should work out if you follow his instructions.

I was able to reproduce this one. It should be a fairly easy fix.

I wasn't able to make these fail on my system. Try reinstalling both and see if they still fail. If they still don't work, email me your debug log.

I had the problem of weather loading only display . Turned out that I installed the weather icon file in the wrong place. It MUST be in the Sage STV/Teehan-Lax folder. In fact, lots of things go wrong if you improperly install the STV.

DIBU: OK. I went over it with Nielm, and it turns out I've included an obsolete version of the nielm_sageutils.jar file in my zip. If you download the most recent webserver file and overwrite that file you should be working again.

Sorry about that, I'll update the install.

LJSSageUser: Thanks for pointing that out. SageTV _is_ very picky when it comes to file locations. While the paths are relative, they must exact. Maybe I need to make the instructions more clear.

A couple STV questions.

I'm looking at this STV again and have a couple questions.

1. When I go to the main menu and look at Watch TV, I expected to see my Sage recordings that I could then scroll through and choose one to watch. To me that is what Watch TV means. Instead it appears that I see the recording schedule. Personally I don't care about the schedule and honestly don't have a clue as to when things are recorded. Is it possible to make this show recordings instead? Is this configurable?

2. Where can I find info about adding IMDB data for my DVDs? I don't use DVD Profiler, is there a way to do this?

For me getting these two things would make it perfect for me. I really like the overall look/feel.

Any suggestions appreciated.

thanks,

I can see how that might be confusing for some people. I've looked into making this configurable before, but haven't come up with an elegant solution to it yet. I suppose that making just "Watch TV" Switch between the recordings menu and the live guide wouldn't be that hard.

I've also thought about making it possible to have that menu item display the recordings list from most recent. I'll take a look an see how much work that would be to accomplish.

As for DVD data, it's fairly straight forward. Go get DVD Profiler and enter your DVDs into it's database. Then go to my instructions page:

http://www.vinceanido.com/blog/installing-the-stv/

and it explains where to put the files to get them to link up. Just make sure your DVD's folders are named exactly as they are in DVD Profiler so the importer can link them correctly. Please note that I haven't implemented offline DVDs yet, and there's still that stupid bug where cover art isn't imported correctly. Those are both of the to-do list.

Thanks for taking a look! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

OK, I downloaded DVDProfiler and got my DVDs into it, dumped the collection file, browsed to it. But no DVDs match up. What I see in the xml for example:

<Title>The Lion King</Title>

My directory is called "The Lion King" but sage brings it up as "The Lion King/video_ts"

This this what is not matching? Not sure what to do now.

thanks,

IIRC, DVD Profiler actually has two names for each DVD. One is the Title, and the other is it's Name. Try the other one, usually it doesn't include "The", or it might be "Lion King, The". Every DVD is different, but you can change that name if you want within DVD Profiler.

I realise it's counter-intuitive, but I believe there's a good reason for it programmatically.

Edit: It's also case-sensitive, so make sure that's exact as well.

I think I'm on to something.

Even though I selected the SageTVCollection.xml I created, it did not actually load that file. Instead it loaded one in the SageMC directory that came with SageMC. I then copied my *.xml over the top of the one in the SageMC directory and things started working for me.

You have to have the directory match the <Title> not <SortTitle>. I'm not sure what it does with colons, as you cannot have those in a directory name. I just edited my <Title> to not have colons.

thanks

Been playing a little more and have a few more questions

Using Sage 6.016RC1

1. Is there and HDTV marker? I don't see it in the guide of on my recordings.

2. When I go to utilities->settings, how do you get out? I tried <left arrow>, which works everywhere else, but will not get me out of the settings page. Is <home> the only way out? The frustrating this with <home> in this case is that it always starts you in Watch TV, not where you left off.

3. When looking in my recordings page, if I click on a folder to open it, it is opened, but the current selection (yellow highlight) is no longer on the folder I just opened. I then have to scroll through everything to find the now opened folder. I'm using "intelligent" sorting.

This one is kinda tricky. With all folders closed, I see that they are not listed alphabetically. When I open any of the folders they are resorted alphabetically, this is what is causing the current selection (yellow highlight) to move. If I open the first folder, that also starts with an "A" it works fine. But for me the second folder starts with an "L", and if I open it, the recordings are now listed alphabetcially and the "L" folder is halfway down the list. This makes it virutally unusable.

BTW the "Title A-Z" works just great with the folders as they are already alphabetical. Seems like a bug.

4. While in the music folder, right arrow does not bring me to the controls on the right hand side of the screen. Instead it brings up a #-z window.

I'll let you know if I find anything else.

thanks for the create STV!

Hi Crashless,

I don't know if they would even fit in, but you are welcome to use/adapt any of my graphics for SageMC if they would be helpful to you. Just thought I'd mention it, since I saw a request for an HD icon a few posts up.

Aloha,
Mike

I really appriciate the offer, but actually, Iain has been making the graphics for me. I have the HDTV icon, I just haven't had the chance to code everything in there. Also, since I don't have HD yet, I have no way of even testing it to see if it works correctly.

I will however see if it would be possible to simply make your icons an option. Seems like it would be easy enough.

I should be able to convince the wife to let me get an HDHomeRun soon, so hopefully I'll have another big update to release in a month or so.

Hi Crashless

Since I have upgraded to version 6, I have lost the ability to enter text in search areas, using either the remote or the keyboard. Any ideas buddy?

Iain

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday. It seems that it's just the visual display of the entered text that is broken for some reason. The entry still works, which is wierd...

I won't be able to take a look until Tuesday at earliest unfortunately, but I will fix it ASAP.

Also working on some new animations to spice things up a bit. Slow going though. I'll get a maintenance release out soon though.

I like the look of this one but it won't let me change the volume; using the Hauppauge remote, it moves the channel guide at the bottom of the screen insteal of changing the volume level.

Any ideas?
