PVR-150 ?'s, Shaper picture?

2 weeks ago I started having some severe diagonal lines scrolling across the screen on some of the higher frequency channels. Oddly enough, those were the channels that I record most. I tried to adjust the frequencies in the registry but had no luck.

I thought maybe it was driver related, however the problem seemed to occur with all of the ones I tried. I then decided that maybe it was dirty. I pulled the card, shot some compressed air on it, and then took some Qtips and rubbing alcohol and cleaned the board. This seemed to fix the problem for the first 30 mins. the card was back in. The lines came back along with a few choice curse words.

I pulled the card again, cleaned it again. I had another thought maybe it was one of the fans was giving some interference to the card. I unhooked all of the fans (4). While the card was out, for some reason I pulled the sticker off the rectangular metal part and noticed hole with screw type adjustment thing. I believe the "thing" is actually called a pot? I turned it clockwise about a 1/8 turn. I then put everything back together except one of the fans. Now, after all this hassle, the problem has been fixed for more than a week.

I guess my question is, does anyone know what that little adjuster does? I'm not positive but the picture seems to be sharper than it was before but I don't think that would explain why the lines would be gone.

Thanks for reading and for any input you might have.

Pot = Potentiometer. Variable resistor. On a tuner card it might be a fine tuner but could be a number of other things and more than likely unrelated to your problem but not necesarily so. Short answer: Who knows? But, at least the lines are gone
