Sorry, but the errors have been of a large variety so I was unsure what to actually put here. However, over the last few days, the most consistent error seems to be an error message that ShowAnalyzer crashed with a dump of a whole bunch of weird letters (e.g. ZYZHGJWKHAHSDH....) Upon clicking close, it then has a small box that says Error 159 to which you click okay. Showanalyzer is then locked down at whatever point it crashed. You can kill it with Ctrl-Alt-Del, and it will start up fine, but the system is more sluggish, etc. and a reboot usually works best to get it back. However, having to reboot after every run of SA...well, you know.

Anyway, the one other error that has been semi-popular (although I am not sure it is SA related, but I suspect it maybe) is that I was getting (after so many runs of SA) a "Low Virtual Memory" error. The only fix here was a reboot.

However, at the same time, I am also having trouble with Sage 5.02 which is apparently stemming from my Java of 1.5_6. So, hope that helps, but ...

Have you tried an uninstall/reinstall/reregister? Have you been able to get SA to run on any show? Will it always run successfully if you only run it repeatedly on that show? Is the crash consistant if you run SA repeatedly on the same show?

0.7.2 - 22 May 2006
- Fixed goofy changes when entering times that start with 0.
- Fixed negative file sizes in log files.
- Log verbosities of 1 or greater will now show the settings profile being use.
- Fixed major bug in my AC3 decoder.
- Fixed bug in live detection of DVR-MS files. (I hope... fingers crossed...)
- Fixed flaw in segmentation calculations. (No wonder it was missing so many commercials!)
- Fixed "Depth of Analysis" setting. It was being ignored.
- Improved reliability of DVR-MS audio decoding.
- Really replaced the audio analyzer this time.

Enjoy!

Jere

No, haven't tried the uninstall/reinstall./reregister. Honestly, it seems to work fine, but crashes every so often. I see you posted another update. I will give that one a go. Thanks much for all of your work on this!!!

.7.2 still hangs on most of my HD shows. It will start the scan and looks normal, but after about 20 seconds the cpu drops to 0 and it hangs. I have to close it via task mgr. Any ideas?

Can you provide me with a sample show?

I started getting pop up windows with SA crashing.

"ShowAnalyzer Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

This seemed to start after I changed my monitor. I went from using a standard TV to an HDTV last night. I still had 7.1 installed, but installed 7.2 later, and am still getting the messages.

Do you think I just need to reinstall? Seems a bit odd. I registered again, and that didn't help anything...

I stopped DirMon this time, and reinstalled. It appears that I may have been installing while DirMon was running, and possibly DM launched SA during the install...

It hasn't given me any of those errors so far.

geogecko,

You raise an excellent point. When installing a new version of SA, the files need to be replaced. Windows won't allow that unless the files aren't in use.

If anyone is running into crazy crashes, especially crashes that cause a window to pop up, then make sure that the version numbers match on the exe and the dll.

Excellent observation!

*edit to clarify* - The first 3 numbers of the version number need to match. The last number is just a build count for that specific file so it doesn't need to match.

Jere,

I am also seeing 0.7.2 either hang or crash when processing HD files.

I processed one SD file and it finished successfully.

I still see negative file size in the log for both HD and SD files.

Thanks Jere. Glad I could help clarify installation issues. Might be something good to add to the installation instructions, if it's not already there.

DirMon can be sneaky, especially if you have it set to check for shows fairly frequently (I have mine set for every 3 minutes).

OT:

Wow, Sage looks so much better on an HDTV! Now my problem is that now with 1080p resolution on the TV, I have to have UltraVNC set to scale the remote machine desktop, and I STILL have to scroll, otherwise the fonts are too hard to read on my local PC!

Same for me, but it failed on an SD file. ??? First time I have seen the actual windows message. Of course I didn't take note of what it said, output was a 0kb txt file.

I too am having issues with ShowAnalyzer crashing. I have removed it and will begin anew tomorrow or soon.

OT Reply: That's why I use RDP.

Ok so I am noticing some crazy stuff here. On SD shows SA is failing, on HD, it seems to be working.

I also notice that the Page File usage graph climbs and climbs to a really high level while decoding SD files. In HD however it seems to stay pretty low and reasonable.

Im decoding last nights letterman in HD and its using about 400megs of paging file. Thats not to much higher than at idle. I made a goof in Dirmon a few minutes ago and ended up with 3 SA sessions running. 2 SD shows and one HD. The Paged usage went up to almost 2 gigs. Computer was pretty much unresponsive. I killed the two SD SA sessions and PF usage dropped back down to normal with the HD SA session still running.

Something is goofy, thats for sure.

un-installed, re-installed, re-registered, re-ran a file which had crashed, and it still doesn't work see pic. If you leave it, it just sits there like that. low to no cpu and lots of memory used. I have throttleing turned off for the moment so that should not be it.

I just sent you part of a CSI called Tanglewood. Let me know if that works.

Disable the Webserver props within SA and all should be good. There is a 'bug' with that portion and interferes...

huh, I dont think they are running, I don't use the web server. I also noticed a thread on the DragonGlobal forum that mentioned to turn off the wait time, while processing a program that is still recording.

I am away for the weekend starting this afternoon so hopefully there will be a new version by the time I get back.
