Starting late and Ending early
One of the first shows we watched completely was tonight "strong medicine". The atomic time was correct on my computer and it seemed like it started between 0-10 min late and ended early. Any suggestions ?

Change the start and stop buffer? Some shows do start at odd times, especially if they butt up to the end of the news (at least its like that here)

hmmm never had to do that with TiVo... I wonder if anything else could be going on.

Happens regularly to me, but only with certain shows (The Daily Show and Penn&Teller BullSh*t are most common). Those same shows are even padded 10+ minutes and the end still cuts off! The show info and file size indicates the proper amount of time was recorded (i.e. for 30 or 60 minutes shows, padding, etc.).
I just wonder if the guide is off for certain channels on occaision(?).

Thats what I started doing when my shows. 3 minutes before start and if its something that can flow over like a sports show up to an additional 45 minutes of end slack. It pretty much took care of the problem with me. although stations like comedy central or TLC sometimes needs a 5 minute buffer as they always seem to start early.

That really does suck. With TiVo, it was always dead on. I like SageTV much better though overall. Just a little kink to iron out.

For what it's worth, mine is almost always "dead on". I still pad by 2 minutes each way just in case though (1 hour at the end of Sunday shows for cascading sports run over). The reason I know it's dead on is from watching back-to-back recordings where the padding gets removed.
Hope you get your issue worked out snoopy...

Thanks apeary, I hope so too. Setting my clock 3 1/2 min ought to do the trick and then I will add padding just to make sure. More like 1 1/2 hour padding for 60minutes that's routinely overrun by sports. Thanks.
