Change Channel via Serial Data DirecTV D10-300

I had the DirecTV d10-100 which stopped working properly after the last firmware update. (Many others have had the same problem including Tivo Users) DirecTV replaced my D10-100 with a D10-300 claiming it did not have the same problem. From what I can tell it either has the same problem as the 100 or it's just flat-out not compatible.

Does anyone here know?

I'm at Sage 2.1.10 FYI

Any idea if the '200 boxes still work?

Here's a thread on the topic, though I don't think it has either of our answers

FWIW I tried asking the guys on Satelliteguys but have had no success there. I want to change to D* from Cox but need to know what to get

the D10-300 do not work at all. The low speed data port is inactive. I do not think the -200's work either. Just the D10-100's (but not right now aparently). If you don't need to tune to your locals below channel 100 I have a Sony SatB3 with serial control that I would sell cheap (I can't use it because my locals only come in below 100). PM me if interested.

Apparently it does work, from reading this: http://www.pdp8.net/directv/directv.shtml

I would, but I need the Locals for WAF (not that I watch the yocal channels :P)

Here's an awesome place to go to get the D* STBs for $25! They're brand spanking new D10's (he has 100 and 200's I think). http://www.valueelectronics.com/avstc.htm

The perplexing thing is that besides from that I've been unable to find any other examples of them working.

But there is that workaround posted in the HW section for the 100s. Gah, I have to come to a reasonable conclusion on this so I can order!

From the link dager posted, I would not conclude Sage can control a -200.

# From box name select extra bytes needed after sending command
%cmd_extra=("RCA" => undef,
"D10-100" => undef,
"D10-200" => "0x0d"

I am totally ignorant in reading code, but it may mean that the -200 can be controlled as long as the application (sage) supports the command set. This script for mythTV seems to fix the <100 channel issue with the -100 as well.

The notes in the script talk about the -200 being unreliable as well. "Added retry on errors since the D10-200 is not reliable"

One link that list recievers that support serial control is here http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...hreadid=128743

I ended up going back to Antenna input for local channels.

Good catch Wakecrash! Yeah, there's so much saying you can't or it's iffy (nevermind not at all on the 300). I ordered with 4 D10-100s yesterday from www.valueelectronics
