Computer not going into standby...

I recently built a new computer (3.0Ghz Pentium 4) and I have set windows screen saver to come on after 7 mins. This works correctly. I have set the monitor to turn off after 15 mins. This also works correctly. I have set the computer to go into standby after 25 mins. But hours will go by and the computer will not go into standby. I can tell it to standby manually, by going to start and standby and that works great. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could try to solve this? Do I need to turn off the harddisks before it will standby? Am I missing some important step? Oh also this is not my Sage computer, this is my personal computer. So it has nothing to do with pending recordings. Thanks for the help.
