XMLTV: do you have to update it to get new channel packages?

Does XMLTV get new channels via the grabber and the server, or will it only look for the channels that were known about when the grabber was written... I have xmltv 0.5.10 and am not getting some channels that i want to... in the UK.. via Sky

Sky One Mix
E4 +1

amongst others

Thanks

the answer is no.. updated... found no new channels.. bit of an arse as Sage can't record shows of those channels did look at the tv_grab_uk_rt one but its clumsy (and i thought normal grabbers were bad) and takes ages going via the web.. no extra channels either

Hi Jimbouk,

XMLTV grabs the channels that the provider knows about for your location.

So.. In the US, zap2it is the provider for channel data, so XMLTV can only get data for the channels that zap2it knows.

If you have previously configured XMLTV using "--configure" and new channels were added since then, you may have to re-configure XMLTV so the configuration files contain the new channel lineup.

yeah i've reconfigured it, still missing these channels.. i guess they aren't covered.. i didn't know if each grabber had a list of channels it would attempt to grab, didn't realise it was smart enough to get all channels available
