Sage TV doesn't see my capture card?
New Install doesn't see my capture card.
SageTV was working fine - I re-installed windows and re-installed SageTV and now it doesn't see any capture devices during the setup wizard. Anyone had this problem? |

Just a stab in the dark here but, did you try taking the card out, then starting the computer normally. Then shutdown, reinstall the card, and boot back up. Windows might see the card if it is reinstalled after being taken out.

Thanks for your reply.
Windows sees the card just fine - device manager reports that it is working normally. SageTV does not see it, however. What is weird is that I checked the properties file right after I installed and my Hauppauge card was in there. After SageTV initialized the first time, however, that entry was gone. JC |

Do you have any other software running that would use the card, such a some other PVR software or Windows MCE? If the card is being used by some other process, SageTV can't use it.
Also, make sure the card isn't listed on the mmc/ignore_encoders line in the properties file. - Andy

If I was using MCE edition, what would I do to enable detection?

There are a lot of things it could be.
I'm using a custom version of XP Pro that is stripped down to its bare essentials. I'm guessing that there is some registry entry set wrong that does not allow the card to be used. Weird that it is detected in Windows though. If anyone is using a stripped version of xp pro and has got SageTV to work let me know. |

Windows sees the device, but can Hauppauge's WinTV application? I suspect not.
If it can't, run the hcwclear utility to uninstall all the drivers, then reboot. Go through the driver installation again and start Sage. If it is what I think it is, it usually happens when Sage doesn't shut down cleanly. Nick.

WinTV didn't work either. I got the HTV=0 error
A full shutdown might work. I didn't try it and it fixed another problem I was having with the OS. Thanks - I'll try it later, spent like 4 hours on PVR stuff today |
