Hauppauge 250 with MCE

Is it possible to use the Hauppauge WinTv Pvr250 (non-MCE) with MCE? I'm trying to do this now, but can't get a picture...

Sorry if I was unclear. I was referring to Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

I understand that, but do you mean using the MCE app, or simply running SageTV or something on MCE?

Ah, I thought you were using trying to use MCE (confusing huh, I'm guessing that's why there weren't any responses ).

Anyway, did you make sure there aren't any MCE processes running (I think ehome*). It should be possible, MCE is just XP Pro + app, but there are some services that can snag your card if you aren't careful.

Yeah thats confusing and I am still not exactly sure what you are asking. However, if you are asking if SageTV installed on a Windows XP MCE edition will work with a PVR-250 then the answer is a definate yes. I ran this combo for a short while and had no problems. Like Strager said you have to kill all MCE services and startup processes. Disable the services in service manager and edit your regitry to make sure all the eshell stuff doesn't load on boot. If you use Girder, I setup a a few comands to kill all MCE processes in my task switching group. Those pesky critters would start themselves up with no provocation sometimes.

Thanks for the advice from both you and Stanger89. I disabled a couple of services and SageTV works fine now.
