serial accuracy problem -multidcttuner

My set up has 2 motorola dc2244(exact #?) STBs connected to 2 serial cables. One to the motherboard serial port, the other through a usb-to-serial port. Sage and multidcttuner control the channel changing correctly "most" of the time. About 70% of the time.

When sage intially boots up, the first few channel changes usually won't work. If I pick 3-4 different channels, it usually syncs up. First couple times it usually won't change the channel, and the 3rd/4th changes are usually 1 channel change behind.

After a while, the channel changes are pretty accurate (i'd say 90% of the time).

When sage is in sleep mode it's pretty much 50% accurate.

What could be causing this? Would showing a log help?

Any advice would be appreciated. I like the serial responsiveness, but the inaccuacy is ruining it.

Thanks.
