Purchased Nvidia MX4000

Audio and Video in PC monitor mode.
No Audio in TV mode
Video works as far as the Windows screen goes and I can navigate sage, but no picture. I am using a standard s-video cable that is 50' long.

I had planned on taking this card back and getting something nicer from pricewatch.com but wanted to see how little I could get away with. I am curious if the issue has to do with the lengh of the s-video cable. They have an s-video signal strenghth enhancer (2db gain if I remember correctly) at Radio Shack for $5.00.

So is it the cable or the MX 4000 causing the problem?

When I rebuilt my box I had no video while playing shows but could navigate the menus (obviously if it isn't playing the video files there will be no audio) and it took a reinstall of the hauppage drivers to get it to work again. But if the videos are playing while on the pc, I am not sure what's going on there. If you get a picture enough to navigate the menu system I doubt it's the video card. Try turning off 3d accelleration, use the sage decoder, yadda yadda. All of that stuff first. Reinstall hauppage drivers...

Well it looks like I gave bad info. It worked when I installed it on the PC side but I assumed wrong that it still was. I checked a regular mpg file with svideo and it played fine, so it's not the cable. On both the PC and tv side, sage live TV gives no video (although the video does come on for 1/2 a second before turning the Sage window black). I seem to have lost video just as you did just after I installed the video card. I "forced" a reinstall pointing to the location of the drivers and overwriting the ones that are there, it doesn't seem to help. The Nvidia drivers I am using are the media center edition drivers. I rebooted after the re-install and nothing... no video in sage live TV mode however I can still navigate the Sage menu. Any more ideas?

Re-installed Sage and all is well, except that I don't see the video window in VNC. It appears black but that's neither here or there for now. I'm going to go play with some CAYAR

You probably won't be able to view video with vnc or remote desktop... If it uses directx (and I'm not sure it does), it doesn't translate well over the remote viewers because at that point you are using an emulated video card.
