USB-UIRT missing first digit
I have solved my transmission issues with my USBUIRT and SA3250HD - it will now reliably change channels like it used to with my 4200HD.
I had to not use service mode and then play with RepeatCount, delays etc. BUT Now - my cable box always misses the first digit when changing channels via the remote. Its like it gets confused by the signals I'm sending TO the USBUIRT and misses the first signal FROM the USBUIRT. If I change via keyboard or let Sage change for scheduled recordings - everything works fine - but as it stands I can't use my remote to change channels directly. |

Are you using an external emitter from the USBUIRT to the cable box? If so just tape over the emitter and the front of the cable box so no outside IR can be received by the cable box.

everything worked fine for months and months on my 4200HD - now its all falling apart. This sucks. |

this seems to be the same issue (except I'm just using sage and USBUIRT - no girder) |

It sounds to me like the IR emitter on your remote control is stronger than the emitter that is right in front of your cable box. Maybe there are stronger emitters you can get or try if you have others laying around. I have two emitters right in front of my box and am not experiencing the same problem as you are. Don't give up yet

thats a good point - its an MX700 and its pretty powerful. I'll build an emitter today and slap it right on the front of the cable box and see if that works... Right now I'm just using the USBUIRT's built in transmitter.

I have the exact same remote so I know it can't overpower the emitter that I'm using. I think I used the emitter that came with my Tivo.

OK - i taped an emitter on the front with black electrical tape and verified that the cable box could see no other signal source.
then i tested. sage can change channels 100% with USBUIRT transmitting only I can change channels with the keyboard 100% with USBUIRT transmitting only with a remote - using the USBUIRT to receive and THEN transmit does not work at all - it goes flaky and enters seemingly random numbers. anyone have ANY ideas? |

Strange stuff. What device did you program your MX700 to that you are sending signals to Sage with? For my Sage section on my MX700 I'm using "IR Data from: AUDIO / Enter Code Number: 315.
You aren't using the Cable Box remote code as your remote code on your MX700 to talk to/control Sage are you? Another question: Are you using Sage's built in support for the USBUIRT or using girder or something? I'm using the Sage built in support. Make sure you are running the latest USBUIRT drivers too. |

usbuirt driver is 1.5.5 i believe
I am using built in support only as I did with my sa 4200HD previously I am using codes from the remote that came with my 250 (snapstream?) I can try other code sets. I'll try yours and report back. |

I'm using 1.5.5.0 also. The only other difference here is the IR file and possible wacky stuff going on with the USB port. Do you have the USBUIRT direct into a USB port or in a hub or something strange. Does your board have other USB ports you can try instead? Who knows maybe changing the codeset and reprogramming the Sage commands will work out. Good luck.

i just created a "test" device on my mx700 using audio 315 and will try that now.
no usb hubs or anythign funky - have tried multiple USB ports what box are you controlling and what are your IR settings? |

SA Explorer 4200. So different animal there but there are others on this forum with the same 3250 and maybe their IR file will be of use. After you switched off service mode to program your box codes in did you switch service mode back on? I'm using service mode.

I FIGURED IT OUT!
it was of all things - the Nvidia video decoder (VPP) I noticed that there was a slight stutter when it missed codes so I went and set everything back to defaults and everything worked perfectly. So now I have to rebuild my config from scratch and find a decoder that looks as good as the nvidia but doesnt make my USB UIRT go nuts. thanks for the troubleshooting help Tox! |

The rc5 codes that the hauppauge 250 remote uses is a toggling type. Supposedly it's to help with double key presses... I would highly suggest using some other remote codes.

I'm glad you figured it out. Any particular reason you were using the post processor instead of the regular Nvidia Decoder. What graphics card do you have in there?

ATI Radeon 9600
The VPP looks much nicer - but I'm happier with a USBUIRT that works |

I'm having a similar problem. I have the 9200SE and USB-UIRT2. When playing back files it takes anywhere from 2 to 7 presses of the FF key on the remote before I get any response in sage.
I have always been suspicous of the video drivers. What changes did you make to get the drivers to cooperate with the USB-UIRT? |
