How to pick quality level
I am primarily re-recording VHS tapes which were recorded at the six hour speed. I can make a VCD from these tapes that has no quality loss to my eyes. However, I would like to make DVD's instead. When I recode with "fair" quality level, I see pixelization and jerky motion on fast scenes on playback.
What quality level should I pick to minimize file size while retaining the quality of SLP VHS recordings? |

If you plan on burning to DVD I would probably use one of the DVD settings. DVD long play or DVD extra long play. I've had pretty good success recording at DVD standard quality. Then authoring the DVD with Ulead and writing it to the hard drive. After that I use DVD shrink to compress/reencode and burn to DVD.
