Problems with the Sage Service starting
I can not get the sage service to start - when I try it informs me that the service has taken too long to respond and then remains unstarted - This means I have to keep sagetv open all the time to record shows. I have unistalled and installed the java client a number of times - one thing that I noted was that the java virtual engine I am using is newer then the one that automatically installs via the sage installer - I hope someone can help!

You aren't using the trial, by any chance, are you? Maybe it is attempting to show the trial warning dialog. Perhaps check out this discussion: Can't get service to run. Someone there mentioned running services.msc and setting the service to allow it to interact with the desktop. (If this is the case: yes, SageTV does know about it, so it is on their list of bugs.)

That worked - thank you. I did fill out a service ticket for this but never recieved a reply email - about 3 days ago
