no focus not working for haupauge remote

I am using ir32_245_22350 ir software and I installed irremote.ini from Haup_no_focus_irremote_New_Remote. I restarted the machine after doing this and I see in the irremote.ini in the c:\windows directory entries like:

[SageTV]
;New Silver Hauppauge remote - 45 buttons
0={findwnd(SageApp,SageWin)}{SendMsg(1258,0,30)}
1={findwnd(SageApp,SageWin)}{SendMsg(1258,0,31)}
2={findwnd(SageApp,SageWin)}{SendMsg(1258,0,32)}
3={findwnd(SageApp,SageWin)}{SendMsg(1258,0,33)}

If I have focus the remote works just as it did before, but if I don't have focus the remote is not working. Am I missing something?

You have to use the green power button to run SageTV, or to at least put the remote into SageTV mode if it is already running.

Does this mean that if I autostart SageTV I still will need to hit the green button to get the no focus to work, the reason I ask is that when it starts the focus is not on SageTV when it starts. SageTV is in the foreground but the task icon at the bottom of the screen is orange, and I need to actually click on the SageTV before the remote will work in the first place.

I was hoping that using the nofocus I would not need to switch the computer view as I am using the hardware out on the pvr-350.

If you haven't restarted the computer or ir.exe since you used the green button to put the remote into SageTV mode, then you shouldn't need to activate it with the remote again & it will continue to control SageTV.

Actually, what I am concerned about is if for some reason there is a machine problem and it needs to be rebooted, I would like my wife to just be able power the pc off then back on.

I understand that once I hit the green button and it is controled by the remote then I should be okay. Just trying to make this as fool proof for my wife as possible. It really is not a big deal, if it can be done then great, otherwise I will take some time to make sure she understands how to get the remote working after a reboot.

You can edit the ini file to make SageTV the only thing it works with. Some comments about that are in the Hauppauge remote links in my sig lines. You could try this one as one way to do it.

Great, this sounds like what I want. I don't plan on using the remote for anything other than SageTV. I will test this tonight.

Yup, if you are only using the remote to control Sage, then strip out all the extra program info from irremote.ini so that Sage is the default.

I took one of the posted stripped down .ini's and did some minor tweaks to it. I mapped the SubCC/# key, which was unused, to toggle between full-screen and windowed. That way, I can see my task manager behind it and see the current CPU load of Sage.

I attached a zip copy that you can look at for ideas.

edit: sometimes my task manager will pop up on top of sage due to a crappy wireless keyboard, and the remote can still control Sage even though it is behind another window. A press of the GO button will bring Sage back to the front.
