Didn't the original DLL work? Didn't you save it?

No, the 2.2.8 DLL sends out the correct hex value for channel change; however it is an incorrect value for the STB.

The other portion of the string is the incorrect command.

Sage Tech Support sent me a new Directvserialcontrol dll that works fine on my D10-100, using Sage 3.0.7, tunes all channels, using a homemade serial cable. I don't know if I am allowed to post it, if a mod says OK, I'll attach it. If not, ask tech support for it.
Hope that helps- it does exist, don't know why you can't get it, unless you are still using 2.x.x.

I got it on 8/30. Am I allowed to post it? Or will I get banned? Companies can be weird about their software. Sage has always treated me right.

You won't get banned, but it would probably be removed. I wouldn't post it unless they gave permission to, especially when everyone knows how to get it.

dagar,

Rather than make assumptions (on my part) have you told Sage that the DLL doesn't work?

yep, basically what I had posted several posts up

including multiple serial port logs of varying usefulness (it was useful to me, dunno IRT to the developers)

Since it is something that SageTV is testing, I suggest that you not post it publicly -- or email tech support to ask them. My feeling on it is that if someone from SageTV hasn't posted it yet, they _might_ feel that it isn't ready for everyone to use yet. Who knows, maybe it will get posted when people are back at work next week.

Opus,
that's why I didn't post it. It could create a nightmare for Sage Tech support.

UPDATE:

I watched the port under Sage (with new DLL).

It only sends the first number in the sequence (which coroborates what I said above.

Example:

Sage sends this:
FA A5 00 00 E3

STB expects this:
FA A5 00 00 E3 FA A5 00 00 E6 FA A5 00 00 E0 FA A5 00 01 C3 0D #select numbers 3 6 0 (0xE3 0xE6 0xE0)

and heck, throw in a 'select' button for good measure for those speedy channel changes :P :
FA A5 00 01 C3 0D

---------
This explains why the bloody thing doesn't work

What model, manufacturer code, and software version of your D10? I seem to have the same issue as you on a brand new D10 I bought. The older D10s with DTVs latest software work fine, the new D10 which probably has older software or a version used for manuf testing has the problem you refer too. I called DTV tech support and they setup my reciever the download after 2AM.

The software verision of my "broken" D10-100 is 003C 0206 B 0000010A.

The new D10-100 version 0x101B, must use Sage new/test dll. Should list date of upgrade, around May and June 05.

The old D10-100 version 0x204, must use sage old dll.

Note, Sage TVs new serialcontroll dll fixes the <100 channel change issue for D10s. All receivers must be D10s with 0x101B software. Save your old dll, because whenever DTVs downloads a "fix" to the <100 channel and screen saver issue my guess is you will have to go back to Sages old dll. Perhaps this is why Sage is not "posting" the dll. DTV has stated they will rollout a fix in the fall 05, and rumor is some beta testing has been performed in Houston TX market.

D10-100, running 0x101b

I have the latest DLL (as of last week) and the one before that too. I've done the cold start dance on the STBs multiple times. My cable and the serial control works all day long (literally) with DTVControl. And for whatever reason, the DLL refuses to put out a valid string. It does a partial and that's it.

FWIW, I saw the Houston rumor as well.

After Directv sent the upgraded SW, all three of D10-100 STBs are now working via serial control. Due to the upadated dll <100 channels are working as well. My sympthom seem to be the exact same as dagars before the upgrade, I would tune to 360 and STB would go to 3, I did not try a 2XX or 4XX number.

Perhaps you don't have a "defective" port, but an incompatible one? If you are using onboard RS232 have you tried an add in card or a USB to rs232 converter? Something is causing the dll and your hardware/software setup to not play nice, what all have you tried on the PC end?

See that's the thing. The serial control DOES work. Just not with the DLL. It works just fine with DTVControl. I wonder if it's the way that the DLL grooms the port? Yeah, the DLL is only sending out the first digit. I did the 2xx/4xx bit and same, same; eg. channel 2 for 2xx, 3 for 4 for 4xx.

Nah, it's my DB9 Async port on my AN7. The USB converters will most likely need a loopback handshake custom cable. Regardless, the port and the cable work. I'll pull out my HP protocol analyzer when the boys go down for their morning nap.
