$hit! I just checked my setup and it doesn't work anymore now too. I even closed Sage, turned off the reciever then turned them back on now and they still don't work.

I used the directv serial controller program to see if that will still work and it does.

Has anyone been able to solve this problem? I just setup a new server and it too will not tune to channels lower than 100 using the DirecTV Serial Control. The Serial Control program itself works great, but Sage will not tune to channels lower than 100. Is there anyhting that can be done to get this working?
BTW - I contacted support, and they did n ot seem to be familiard with this problem. |

I too would like to find out if anyone has solved this problem. My system has been working fine for the past 6 months as of last week I can't tune to channels below 100. can't seem to find anything that will fix this.
So if anybody has ideas... |

Directv did it
Directv downloaded new firmware to these boxes and messed up the serial port. All PVR's are being affected, Tivo, ReplayTV, home-built, etc.
See this thread in the Tivo forum. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=241518 |

Sheesh... what a buch of a##holes...
that thread indicates it's a "rolling update" - anyone on the west coast affected yet? All three of mine seem to be working still up here in Seattle.

I sense a lawsuit coming! Directv doesn't own the boxes that people paid for and thus should have no right modifying it without the customers permission. If they rented customers the boxes like cable companies do then sure they can do what they want, but basically they modified your equipment without your permission.
Of course for all I know there is probably something in their fine print that says they can, but if it ceases normal operation.... |

Well, DTv claims this was not intentional and they'll have a fix "real soon". I just snapped up a couple older 420-RE receivers on EBay just in case - $15 a pop, can't be too safe.

Can the 420-RE receivers tune to channels below 100? I purchased the Sony SAT-B3 and those can't go below 100...unfortunately where my locals are.

I have two 420RE receivers on serial ports in my Sage setup, they tune below 100 just fine.

I have three of this model and they all continue to work dandy - the D10s at my friend's house at in the dirt with the new firmware "upgrade".
These units are a bit slower and not as sexy as the new equipment but they work like a champ and do what you need them to for Sage users...

For those of us ignoring this (since we don't have DTV... yet). This is only an issue with tuning channels < 100? ie Locals?

Thinking back on it, I should have checked to see if the D10-100 could tune the locals in the high 900 range the way the sony does...... Long story short, if you are going DTV get an older sony or rca receiver. HTH. Jesse |

BTW: I was told that SageTV tech support has an updated DLL that should work for channel changes for channels under 100. If you want to test it, you should contact tech support.
Also, SageTV should be capable of supporting both the old & new command sets, just not when using both types of receivers at once. You cold probably set up a network encoder, however, if you are using two receivers & 1 uses the old set & one uses the new set. - Andy

Has the updated DLL helped any of you guys? I'm still having the same issue; only the first digit is 'registered' by the STB;
changing to channel 3xx (eg 360) give me channel 3; 4xx give me 4, etc UPDATE: I watched the port under Sage (with new DLL). It only sends the first number in the sequence (which coroborates what I said above. Example: Sage sends this: FA A5 00 00 E3 STB expects this: FA A5 00 00 E3 FA A5 00 00 E6 FA A5 00 00 E0 FA A5 00 01 C3 0D #select numbers 3 6 0 (0xE3 0xE6 0xE0) and heck, throw in a 'select' button for good measure for those speedy channel changes :P : FA A5 00 01 C3 0D --------- This explains why the bloody thing doesn't work Last edited by dagar; 08-30-2005 at 06:34 PM. |

Why not, is this such a big deal to ask for? I hate having to not use 1 of my boxes because sage can't cope with it. Is it possible to make it so you can set whcih command set to use for a tuner like snapstream does? |

Does anyone have any version of the DLL correctly changing channels on their D10? I don't care if it's the >99 channels. Anyone?
This has gotten ridiculous. Over 4 weeks and no resolution, much less a useable fix. If they can't fix it and support it. They need to withdraw it. |
