Parental codes

I have a problem with parental codes on my satelite box.

If I am recording a program on one channel which is followed by a program which requires a parental code to unlock then my next sage recording , which is on a different channel fails as the satelite box takes the channel change command from sage as the first three digits of the parental code!!

Is there a way to get sage to send a "back-up" command before every channel change so that the satelite box knows that what is following is a channel number and not an unlock code?

I have seen that sage supports user defined IR commands but can not see any way to issue them.
