haup blaster & sage

Hi, I can't seem to get sage to talk to the ir blaster that is included on the pvr150.
i add a source, tell it to config tuning with card, but am never presented with any options.

Ideally, the ir blaster would emit the code needed to change channels on my expressvu 3100.

do i need to reinstall sage perhaps? I only installed the haup ir software recently, but have had sage on my pc for ages.

also, does the haup IR emitter emit visible light & IR (ie blink red) or only IR light?

Did you configure the 150's blaster using the Hauppuage software? There is a very short blurb on using that blaster on p. 199 of the v2.2 manual, with links to where you will select it during Source Setup. (And that's all I know about that blaster, since I don't use it.)

I use the H 150's blaster and it works fine on my DCT 2524.

As Opus mentions you need to setup in H's blaster app first then config Sage to use the H blaster. Works fine here except it ocasionally seems to go wonky when the box resumes from sleep (so I no longer permit it sleep). Also, the adhesive on the emitter lasted about a week so I needed a bit of tape.

Yes, it emits red visible light when blasting.

I had the same problem. My brand new PVR 150 worked fine, but the IR Blaster that came with it would not operate my Motorola DCT 2524 set top box. Seeing Scriber's entry that his IR Blaster worked with his DCT 2524 right away (and confirming that with him through a couple of private Emails), I contacted Hauppauge Tech Support.

They suspected a bad cable and very nicely offered to send me a replacement (that they would make sure was tested first). I received the new cable, plugged it in, crossed my fingers, and almost fell over when it worked the very first try! Perhaps a bad cable is your problem too.

This part is important: When they first offered me the new cable, I told them that my cable's red light was flickering every time, so I thought it was fine. They told me that this was not necessarily an indication that it was working correctly and they suggested I try the new cable anyway... I'm so grateful they perservered... they were absolutely correct that the flickering red light does not necessarily mean all is working as it should be! I am very impressed with Hauppauge, Hauppauge Tech Support, and Hauppauge's commitment to customer service.

Grrr hauppauge or sage or comcast or motorola, im not sure

Ok, system run-down:

Hauppauge WinTV 150
SageTV 4
Comcast Motorola DCT 2524
Logitech Harmony Remote
Epson S3 Projector

Comcast signal / COAX cable from WALL to MOTOROLA BOX
Composite Video from MOTOROLA BOX to Hauppauge WINTV 150
Standard PC Monitor cable from video card to Epson Projector

So this is what I understand from all I've read:

The IR blaster that came with can and for others, does control the Digital Cable Box.

I've setup Sage with a new video source that says (under SOURCE DETAILS\Tuner Control):
Hauppauge IR Blaster StubDevice

When I click to change the Tuner Control settings, a list of options is given such as CHANGE TUNING DEVICE. If I click on any of: Change Tuning Device, Test Infrared Code, or Reporgram Infrared Code; they all bring up option-less popups.

I have gone into the Hauppauge IR Blaster Config utilities, (there's a wizard type one and a simpler GUI one), neither has my model of Motorola box; even with the recently published (March 2006 ish) beta release.

Someone please help.

Thanks,
Ryan

SageTV can only use the Hauppauge IR blaster as it is configured via the Hauppauge software; SageTV can not reprogram it or change its settings. If you have a device whose codes are not in the Hauppauge database for the blaster, I suggest contacting Hauppauge to see if it can be added.
