Sonoma Media Center XPC from Shuttle

Now this looks like it could have some good potential as a Sage Extender, though it looks like it's meant for a full blown media box.

Even claims to have a Cablecard Slot!

Sonoma Media Center XPC from Shuttle Supporting CableCARD

http://anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2317&p=5

Kind of old but I never saw this until about 10 minutes ago. But as you can see, Shuttle is already preparing for MCE to support CableCARD and expected it to be out Q3 this year, which as we already know MSFT tried but it didn’t happen. Either way, very good news for us. To me this shows CableCARD hardware is ready to roll.

Evryone can technically roll out CableCard on your PCs. My prediction is you're not going to see it until Microsoft starts selling Vista. What better way to move the OS off the shelf than provide the capability of using CableCard?

Because of the way they are implementing DRM in Vista, it will be the only system that you can't move copyrighted material at full resolution off of it even with an analog connection. This will be tied down even to you having to purchase a new monitor. Why let it out now when it guarantees them new OS sales and won't be backward compatible?
