confused about Library... how do I physically move a show to it?
I must not understand the library feature....
I set up a library directory called R:\SAGE which points to my file server. I want to move some of the shows that SageTV has recorded to that directory while still being able to watch them in SageTV and still being able to see their "Detailed Info" info.... I thought that when I selected "Move to Library" for a show, that it would be copied to R:\SAGE and deleted from D:\SAGE (my Video directory)..... but that doesn't appear to be happening. Is this not a feature? Can anybody suggest a workaround that can be accomplished via my remote control? TIA, Stuart |

It does not copy the file, it just moves the association from the Guide to the Library to keep the detailed information. Once a show is in the Library it won't be deleted until told by you.
The folder you specified was the import folder for the Library.

Thanks, Dan.
I'm glad that moving the file to the library prevents it from being deleted.... but is there a way to move these files to the "import" folder (my file server) and have them live there, while still having access to the detailed info? If I cut and paste them via Windows, will the info be preserved? |

The short answer is no.
However somewhere around here Jeff made a post about moving files and keeping the EPG info. You'll need to edit the Wiz file. You'll see the file pointers. The downside is that the filename path must be the same length as the original so that the Wiz integrity is maintained. A clever person pointed out that you could do a virtual mapping to the real directory. This way you could put the virtual path in the wiz to maintain the same lenght, but still have the file be able to be moved. Just be sure to backup your wiz file, and remember that if you move a file and the SageTV doesn't find it Sage will clean the wiz. This can cause you to lose the file's EPG data even if you move it back to the original location, unless you have a backup wiz. I'll try and find the right thread and post if I find it. Edit:OK I found the thread from which I got my info. This link should take you there. The relevant info is in the last few posts. Last edited by justme; 07-16-2003 at 07:59 PM. |
