No sound on remote keypress?

Hi:

I'm using a PVR-150 on a fresh install of WinXP SP2. I have edited the irremote.ini configuration file (per the instructions found elsewhere on this site) in order to enable a "beep" sound every time a button on the remote is pressed.

I did this by uncommenting the irremote.ini line ";beep=1", so the line now reads "beep=1". I have also verified that I have a "default beep" specified in the current sound scheme.

I then restarted the IR Remote, but still no beeps - even when using the remote with Hauppauge's WinTV software.

I'm using the latest Hauppauge drivers/software (taken from shspvr's great site).

Does anyone have any ideas what else to try?
