PVR-500 vs. PVR-USB2 *caution*

Just updated the system with 1 pvr-500 (I have only 1 pci slot). I have an existing pvr-usb2 for the cable box.

Since the upgrade, my haup. remote (for usb2) is very irrate. (let me explain)

the ir-software from hauppauge will not work correctly with a pvr-500+usb2 installed in the computer.

the error message that I see is something similar to "unable to initalize ir hardware" no matter, what version of drivers/software I use.

As soon as the PVR-500 is installed, I see this message. Without it installed the remote program starts, and the remote functions properly.

So you can guess what I have to do everytime the computer is rebooted.

1.) disable pvr-500 in the system control panel (both tuners)
2.) start IR program
3.) re-enable pvr-500 tuners
4.) start sage

I can only hope at this point that hauppauge will fix this issue. I am not holding my breath though. I know this can be fixed with using another remote, but I just don't want to get dinged with another $30+ dollar purchase.

Just thought I would throw this out as a cautionary tale

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I am willing to try anything (I do like the new hauppauge remote)

Jim

The Hauppuage remote software is supposed to be able to tell the difference between a 500 & a USB2, so try setting the following registry value:

Check "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\hauppauge\ir" for a DWORD "I2CType" entry. Set it to a decimal value of 23. This tells the IR software to "prefer" using the receiver on the USB2. You may or may not have to reboot afterwards, but I would first try simply restarting ir.exe.
