The Future?

Is there a "Future Map" listed anywhere? Is it possible to give a short list (in priority order) of additions / fixes / features that are going to be worked on please?

I think I also answered this somewhere else but essentially we will try to tell you what will make it into release v1.4 and then what we will try to add with the SageTV Studio vs. another point release. Give us a few days to pull everything together.

Was this ever posted? I did a search but didn't find anything that looked like it.

Ok, I kept seeing every other feature in the feature request thread as being in SageTV Studio, so I did a search for SageTV Studio and came up with this thread. I was hoping to find some kind of offical future product announcement/description.

I've looked through the 'Sage Recorder Feature Request Thread' and I can't see any extra info or replies been added.
Have then been put somewhere else?

Xleon,

I apologize, Jeff did add comments to the "SageTV Feature Request Thread" but he has not had a chance to add comments to the SageRecorder one yet. I'll respond to this thread again once he has.

Sorry for the confusion.
Dan

With the work we are trying to accomplish to release version 1.4 and the SageTV Studio, we do not have any plans to do enhancements to SageRecorder for now. We will revisit this once the Studio is complete............

Of course with the Studio you will essentially be able to completely reconfigure nearly everything possible that has to do with the user interface of SageTV. Essentially, you will be able to create your own Media Center skin for SageTV so a lot of features people have requested for SageRecorder will be covered off by the power of SageTV Studio. Keep an eye on this post: http://www.freytechnologies.com/foru...&threadid=1417 for more information.

OK, but for those of us who don't want to use Sage TV / "Sage TV2", but Recorder, is there still going to be work done on it?

Recorder still has some major issues for me before I'm 100% happy with it and a least one major bug which has not been addressed since the very first beta was released.

Please don't take offence to this, but it does worry me that you buy a program, it's improved for a few months, then frozen when something newer is released and the cycle starts again.

Is Sage Recorder being demoted and you will only be supporting Sage TV/TV2/Client from now on? I know it's difficult as you have a number of programs now and only yourself to keep them updated and improved. I just worry that new features will take precedence over getting the basics complete first.

We're still supporting SageRecorder, and it benefits from a lot of the improvements that SageTV receives (they share the same multimedia codebase).

What's this 'major bug' you're referring to?

I know it may sound petty, but it's the bug where Sage Recorder crashes when it runs out of drive space.

It's hit me several times when I didn't realise how low I was getting on drive space. I know there are many angles to this (including me knowing how much space is left somehow, without having to keep loading Windows Explorer all the time). I want to do everything through Sage (I even delete files using it).

If there was a warning on low drive space, or a simple box or error when it actually ran out instead of crashing and me having to check around to see why Sage crashed.

Maybe an indication on the main Sage panel somewhere discreetly in the corner which said '100Mb or '0.6Gb' left.

My last major issue is the audio volume when using the X-Card as Sage can't currently control it and I do remember you saying you thought you had already written something that you were going to include in a recent release to solve the problem.

The feature request list is getting quite long on the Recorder thread now so I don't know which of the additions / improvements will be considered or when. The other requests of mine I could probably live without for the time-being, but the above two causing me grief on a very regular basis!

Not to worry now. I've written a small utility which resides on the desktop and gives you a little graph of how much drive space is left.

If anyone else finds it useful, it's at:

www.jukebox.btinternet.co.uk in the 'other stuff' section.
