problem playing video with Client

I feel like an idiot...

For some reason windows decided to commit suicide and corrupt it's registry files. I can live with that, I have a drive image of my boot partition.

But I can't get mpeg2 to play since I reinstalled the image. I get

sage.PlaybackException: ERROR(-4,0x0): there was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.

I tried every combination of decoders for video and sound, I reinstalled cyberlink as this was what I was using before the registry seppuku, no dice.

All the windows updates are there and directX is up to date.

Any suggestions before I wipe that partition clean and start again ?

*edit: I forgot to mention that I can watch the videos outside of sage client and I can watch DIVX through the client.

For some reason, using the most recent version of Java comes to mind but don't listen to a stupid n00b

Sadly, I had thought of that. I originaly had 1.4.x and I also tried 1.5.x

I know that before the crash I was using the same 1.5

did you backup yourt sage.properties and wiz.bin and reinstall sage? it might be easier than a clean reinstall.

Sage was installed in the disk image but I had a very recent copy of the sage directory that I copied over the \freytech\sagetv directory. I've used that method often in the past and never had issues but I can try a sage reinstall

Reinstalling did the thing. Didn't even have to erase the frey directory. A simple uninstall/install worked.

KISS, I guess...
