USB-UIRT Wont work

My old Serial Actisys went bad a few weeks ago. I went the got a new one, but this one is the USB Version, the USB-UIRT.

Installed all the proper drivers, went into SageTV, Setup, changed the port to USB, went to teach the unit the remote commands for my Scientific Atlanta 2200, and it all worked. All the buttons programmed OK, no problems, or issues.

I put the Unit in front of the Cable Box, Tried to do a test, NADA, nothing, will not change the channel on the Cable Box. I do see the Red LED flashing when I try to test a button. I also see the LED Flashing when programming the Unit, and SageTV comes back saying Succeful for all the buttons.

I tried to put the unit 3 inches away from the Cable Box. I tried to put it 1 inch. I tried EXTREME CLOSE, TOUCHING the Cable Box in the front, and no matter what i do, IT WILL NOT CHANGE THE DARN CHANNEL.

What in the heck am I doing wrong?

Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME with this thing? I searched thru the forums here, tried the Vendor's website, and nothing.

Please anyone help me here please???

THANK YOU...

The learning led receiver is a short range, did you teach your remote code by holding the remote close to the usb-uirt?

Like about 2 inches away, yes. I hold the controller bout 2 inches away and pressed each button as needed.

Why? DO I have to put the Unit EXACTLY the same distance I mean very exact?

THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE.

The transmit led is very powerful, so after the coes are learned you no longer have to worry about having the unit close to anything.

I'm not sure what else to suggest. This unit has been so darn easy and reliable for so many. Maybe your remote is a 56k and requires a special receiver in the usb-uirt??

You can still get it to work if that's the case, you'll just need to build the .ir file manually, by getting the proper codes and pasting then in there...

If the Remote is a 56K, then how come it works with the Remote Control, but NOT the Cable Box? The Remote Control controls the Cable Box, so if the cable box will not receive anything except 56K Commands, then programming the Unit would not work either, RIGHT?

I dont know, I am just guessing here.

Man this really bites, I wanted to use this darn thing now, got like 3 episodes to record tonight and gotta manually change the channel and stay up til 1 AM.

Thank YOu. Anyone thinks of anything else, please I WILL TAKE ANYTHING.

Supposedly in some situations 56k remote are still prgrammable, since the short range receiver led sometimes works with it... So as far as I know it should be working. Thinking it was a 56k issue was really just me grasping at straws.

What's your STB name and model, and post the .ir file you managed to make.

I have SA 3200's and comparing your file to mine the first thing I notice is the first line...

I don't recall exactly what the first two numbers do, but try changing them to 0:

MotDCT2000USBUIRT 0 0 3 600 1000

Just a guess really.

Well this kind of bites. I never ever seen somethin like this before. I removed the ENTIRE setup of SageTV, my bin files, etc etc etc, and started with a fresh setup. Learned all the codes, everything good. Pointed the darn thing back to the unit, went to change the channel, and VIOLA, it worked. THis is just weird. NOw I gotta figure out how to bring back my favorites and what I watched so far so I dont loose anything. This is just weird.

Thankx for your help Wheemer, I appreciate your quick responses and help.

THANK YOU...
