stopping recording in progress

Tonight I ran into an issue due to the presidential news conference and the digital cable box crashing where I wanted to stop a recording in progress on two different tuners. I am sure that there must be a way to do this, but I could not seem to halt and delete the partial recording what am I missing?

BTW- I am using the default stv with a few add – ins loaded.

I usually go into the "Upcoming recordings" screen, select the show I want to stop recording and select toggle "watched". IIRC, the show stops recording within 5 min or so. I don't know if/when the recorded files get deleted.

You can also go into the Live TV Guide, select the show being recorded and under recording options is "cancel."
